Parley Glove is a music video animation for ISAN’s song of the same title. The animation splits into three segments using circles and squares which are animated as if they are characters in a narrative. Each shape has its own characteristics, which becomes visible through interaction with the other shapes.

The concept of this piece was inspired by the works of Matt Abbiss and Walter Ruttmann, with the aim to create an animation that times smoothly with the music in an organic motion. In terms of a technical approach, small sequences of animation were hand drawn using Clip Studio Paint, and afterwards assembled and edited in Adobe After Effects.

Our animation was created on the basis of the song ‘Leonardo’s formula’. We tried to mimic some mechanical movements to match the fast and stable rhythm of the music. The Dull and low saturated colour scheme we used is also one of our focuses to create the machine feeling.
